Abstract:

Collection of 18th-century Spanish and Latin verses, largely anonymous, including many anagrams, acrostics, and similar pieces, with a few prose sermons or addresses. They relate primarily to religious topics or to public events of special interest for the Diocese (later Archdiocese) of Puebla, notably the proposed beatification of the deceased Bishop Palafox y Mendoza. The verses cover the period from 1729 into the reign of Charles III. Entered by Bancroft and by Puttick and Simpson under "Palafox ... "
