Collection Overview

Title:

Burma Photograph collection, circa 1902-1906

Creator/Contributor:

Online Archive of California

Abstract:

101 black and white photographs: 49 mounted panoramas, Burma Oil Co., other Burma, Port Said, Chester and other England, one dated 1902); 1 7 ½" x 9 ½" mounted albumen of oil field with rigs (looks familiar – see other similar Burma collections); 51 other images. Not clear how much is oil-related and how much different formats relate to each other. A sizeable number, but a minority, seem to have to do with the Burma oil industry; looks like photographs from more than one source and poss. from separate individuals, British (poss. Burmah Oil Co.) and American (poss. Standard Oil Co.). Majority of images are Burma, but see above; also Colombo (Ceylon).
