Biographical/Historical Sketch

Biochemistry professor at Stanford University (Chairman of the Department of Biochemistry from 1959 to 1969), Kornberg received a Nobel Prize in medicine and physiology in 1959 for pioneering the synthesis of DNA in the laboratory.
