Abstract:
The collection comprises a research paper by Anita E. Tapia documenting the life and family recollections of Lorenita Forster Weisenberg, a direct descendant of two prominent early Californio families, the Forsters and Del Valles. The two families owned numerous estates ranging from San Juan Capistrano to Rancho Camulos (from Orange to Ventura County). The research paper in this collection includes a family history of the two families, including family trees and a bibliography; a transcript of an interview conducted in 2002 by Anita Tapia with Ms. Lorenita Forster Weisenberg at her home in Nevada City, California; and photocopied family photographs and correspondence (mostly between John Fernando Forster and his siblings) along with English translations of the correspondence by Tapia.
