Materials in this collections focus on the Sacramento photography agency Almar & Marfoto Photographers (also called Almar Studio) from 1905-1995. Included are photographs, correspondence and ephemera that document the operations of Almar & Marfoto Photographers; also included are also the records of related photography businesses operated by John J. Marvich.
Background
John J. Marvich (1912-1985) and Bebel Alonso (1905-1995) ran Almar & Marfoto Photographers (also called Almar Studio) in Sacramento from 1945-1947. The short-lived business was the successor to Maynard Burkett Studio and operated at 1003 9th St. (1945-1946), 1812 J St. and 2017 J St. (1947). Almar & Marfoto did aerial photography, commercial work, portraits and advertising photos.
